In a world full of cupcake ATM’s and pizza vending machines, we have to finally decide when enough is enough. “Food” today is no longer real food, instead it’s just over processed food-like products. But how do we tell the difference? You walk in the store and the word ORGANIC is everywhere. What does being truly organic mean and how can we make sure that we are doing right by ourselves and choosing the right products? When following a primitive diet, such as the Paleo Diet, look for things found in nature. I have listed the definition of the two types of foods below.
Organic: chemical compounds that formerly comprised only those existing in or derived from plants or animals, but that now includes all other compounds of carbon.
Processed Food: The definition of what constitutes a processed food can vary slightly, but it usually refers to foods that are packaged in boxes, cans or bags. These foods need to be processed extensively to be edible and are NOT FOUND IN NATURE!
Yes I know, that means you have to put back those family size Doritos and the frozen Hot Pockets. Look at it like this instead of feeling like you’re missing out , get creative with your snacks the healthy way then watch and feel your body change for the better. I wish I would have accepted this concept when I was younger, then it wouldn’t be so hard as an adult. We get so busy and forget to take care of the one thing that keeps us moving…our body! We use and abuse it to no end and then expect it to perform at its highest level. This week I want you to think about your daily routine and see if you can fit some minor changes in there to gear yourself towards a healthy lifestyle. Start small and work your way up to the big changes that way you can say, ” I don’t want that.” Instead of “I can’t have that.”
Don’t limit yourself or your creativity when making a lifestyle change. Alter the diet to fit into your life not the other way around! Eat well and be well!!
*I will be posting this weeks lunch recipe tomorrow so stay tuned!! *
